The Pinakes Project

The Pinakes Project is a NEWARTMUSIK archiving, preservation and dissemination endeavor. Through this project, NEWARTMUSIK attends to contribute on the archiving, organizing and preserving the names, biographies, list of works and legacy of music composers, musicians, visual artists, multimedia artists and other art creators.

“The Pinakes Project” is named after the Ancient Greek word “Pinakes”. It means ‘tables’.

“Pinakes” was a bibliographic work composed by Callimachus (310/305–240 BCE). It is popularly considered to be the first library catalog in the Western World. The contents of The Pinakes were based upon the holdings of the Library of Alexandria during Callimachus’ tenure there during the third century BCE.

This Is Why

THIS IS IMPORTANT

1.

ARCHIVING

The creative work of artists and musicians are very important contributions to culture and civilization. ARCHIVING Is a fundamental part for the preservation and the life shelf of the artist's and composer’s work. Important work can be loose forever without the proper archiving and preservation.

2.

CATALOGUING

Allows for the proper organization, preservation and future dissemination of creative work. Good cataloging allows to keep better count of the creative outputs. Cataloguing would also allow for future study and classification of the works, and for better understanding of an artist’s tendencies , philosophies and aesthetics.

3.

PRESERVATION

Most artists are too involved in the creative process. They fail to realize the importance of the appropriate archiving, and cataloguing for the preservation and long shelf life of their work. Newartmusik Pinakes Project is dedicated to assist the artists with this endeavors.

3.

DISSEMINATION

We create spaces for the exposure and promotion of creative art and music works via presential, digital and virtual channels. The goal is to increase the exposure, circulation, distribution and communication between the artist and the public. And to educate the audiences, enrich the public in general. And, furthermore, to create future audiences for the preservation and enjoyment of the creative works throughout time.
